Collaborator for Change: Yenny / ECOCHICBEAUTY

Yenny @ecochicbeauty

At Pink Moon, we place a high value on community and giving back. As a matter of fact, from the moment we decided to create our digital wellcare space, we knew we wanted to create a unique initiative that fused these two values together. Our ultimate goal was to create something that would allow meaningful and far reaching change birthed from collaboration.

For us, this meant putting a spin on the traditional affiliate program structure.

The amazing bloggers that we work with were chosen very intentionally. We have a lot of respect for the women we have partnered with, and, more often than not, have been admirers of their contributions to the beauty space for years.

We are honored to introduce you to Yenny, who is a conscious beauty + living blogger based in DC. Find her on IG and her blog.

Pink Moon: Tell us a little bit about you and your platform.

Yenny: I'm the face behind the Instagram account, @ecochicbeauty, and the blog ecochicbeauty.co. I began my journey to live a more conscious lifestyle about eight years ago and I've never looked back! The first step in my journey was when I transitioned into green / clean beauty. At the time I was using conventional brands and started paying attention to what was going on and in my body. I was astonished to find out how harmful most of the ingredients are for people and the environment - and how it's largely unregulated in the U.S. It was eye-opening. Literally, overnight, I did a complete overhaul of all my beauty products and vowed only to use (and support) organic / natural, ethical, eco-friendly, sustainable brands from that point on. Over the years, I've incorporated that philosophy into other areas in my life such as fashion, food, wellness and in my home. Even my dogs have adopted a conscious lifestyle. :)

Pink Moon: How has self care positively impacted your life?

Yenny: Self-care has taught me to take a step back and take a moment for myself - to unwind, recharge, or do whatever's necessary so that I can be the best version of myself. It's so important for your mental, emotional and physical health. For my self-care, I like to incorporate rituals like dry-brushing my body before I shower, meditating while I use a face mask or after I practice yoga, or giving myself a gua sha facial massage during my nighttime skincare routine.

Pink Moon: Since you are one of our Collaborators for Change, what charity have you chosen to work with? Why?

Yenny: I have chosen to work with the Global Fund for Women, because as a woman and a feminist, I will always advocate for gender equality and empowering women and girls. The Global Fund for Women's mission aims to do the same.

Global Fund for Women is anchored in feminist principles and have feuled movements to disrupt the status quo and radically alter the course of history for women and girls - and all historically marginalized people and communities globally. Their gender justice movements work transform power and privilege for a few into equity and equality for all. They've been doing so for the past 30 years. It's an incredible organization.

Pink Moon: What are your favorite products in the Pink Moon shop (or what are you most interested in/excited to try)?

Yenny: Pink Moon partners with some fantastic diverse, women-owned brands. I pretty much love anything from Earthwise Beauty, 5YINA and moss skincare as they are my tried and true brands. But right now I'm loving some products that I discovered in the Pink Moon shop like Meant's The Wonder Polish, Le Coco Candles x Pink Moon's Clair de Lune Candle, Pink Moon's Over the Moon Duo (Lunar Drops Facial Oil and rose quartz Gua Sha), Mo Mi's Balancing Shampoo, and Relato Nativo's Grounding Blend. I'm looking forward to trying more of the newer brands like Ode to Self and Species by the Thousands!
