Collaborator for Change: Christine / Of The Rose

At Pink Moon, we place a high value on community and giving back. As a matter of fact, from the moment we decided to create our digital wellcare space, we knew we wanted to create a unique initiative that fused these two values together. Our ultimate goal was to create something that would allow meaningful and far reaching change birthed from collaboration.

For us, this meant putting a spin on the traditional affiliate program structure.

The amazing women that we work with were chosen very intentionally. We have a lot of respect for the women we have partnered with, and, more often than not, have been admirers of their contributions to the beauty space for years.

We are excited to partner with Christine Martinez, who is an inspiring woman – she is a mom, wife, future RN, and US Navy Veteran. Christine is also a sustainable living enthusiast. Follow Christine on IG.

Pink Moon: Tell us a little bit about you and your platform.

Christine: My name is Christine, and I am a mom, wife and a nursing student based in Southern California. I am also a United States Navy Veteran. My IG was initially created to promote my Depop shop, but I felt the need to create my own space within the IG universe to be creative, expressive and to meet new people. Especially during a time of a pandemic! Along with sharing pieces of my life, I use my IG to document and promote living more sustainable.

Pink Moon: How has self care positively impacted your life?

Christine: In my early twenties, I completely exhausted myself by feeling as though I constantly had to keep moving. If I wasn’t being “productive” I already felt like a failure. I was listening to a podcast one day where I heard someone mention that self-care is different for everyone. Some people will wake up 5 am to journal, but others may need that extra hour to sleep. By implementing self-care practices that worked well for me, I noticed that I became more compassionate towards myself. Also as a busy woman, I understood the importance of being able to recharge, so that I could be the best version of myself whether at home, work or school.

Pink Moon: Since you are one of our Collaborators for Change, what charity have you chosen to work with? Why?

Christine: I selected the National Brain Tumor Society as the charity of my choice, because of my mom’s history of brain tumors. She is the strongest woman I know. My mom was first diagnosed with her first brain tumor in 2008, and since then has gone through a number of surgeries up until last year. She is currently recovering from a recent surgery, and it’s so hard not being physically there with her during this time. I hope through organizations like the National Brain Tumor Society, it is possible to continue developing improved treatments for brain tumors.

Pink Moon: What are your favorite products in the Pink Moon shop (or what are you most interested in/excited to try)?

Christine: I recently incorporated the Midnight Melody oil into my skin care. I love using it post shower to keep my skin moisturized and to have a lovely subtle scent. I am looking forward to trying their Pink Moon’s Clair De Lune candle. It sounds amazing!
